Our Team

Emmaus is led by Dr. Shanitria Cuthbertson. Dr.Cuthbertson is a Charlotte native and graduate of West Charlotte High School. Dr. Cuthbertson received her B.S. in Psychology from Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, NC. Dr. Cuthbertson also completed a Master of Social Work/Master of Divinity dual degree program from the Duke University and the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Cuthbertson completed her doctoral studies in Curriculum and Instruction-Urban Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  Dr. Cuthbertson is a former Special Education teacher, Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate Tutorial Coordinator for struggling learners, and Community Liaison. Shanitria specializes in integrating social work practice, education, community partnerships, and faith.

Bobby L. Cuthbertson is a Lieutenant at the NC A&T SU Police Department.  Prior to joining the NC A&T SU Police Department, he served as a Sergeant at the University of North Carolina School of The Arts. Bobby began his career in Law Enforcement in 2010 at the Winston-Salem Police Department. He has worked within several divisions of law enforcement including the Patrol Division, School Resource Officers Division, Bike Patrol, and Event Operations and Safety.

Lt. Cuthbertson is a graduate of Elizabeth City State University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in leadership (B.S.). Lt. Cuthbertson also holds a Master’s Degree from Walden University in Business Administration (M.B.A.). Lt. Cuthbertson is an Advance Law Enforcement Officer and a certified North Carolina General Law Enforcement Instructor. He is also a graduate of the following programs and institutes: FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association 129th Supervisor Leadership Institute, FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association 235th Command Leadership Institute, Crisis Intervention Team, Alice Certified Trainer, and Mass School Shooting.

LaQuita is currently a Transition Coordinator at Vaya Health. Prior to joining Vaya Health LaQuita served as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of North Carolina from 2010-2016. LaQuita is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in at-risk adolescents.

​​Robert is currently a Customer Service Associate at Hendrick Mini. Robert is the leader of the Emmaus Mentoring program. Robert studied Engineering Technology at Elizabeth City State University and Drafting and Design at ITT Technical Institute.

Darian currently is currently an officer with the Mecklenburg Sheriff Department. Darian specializes in providing support and community services to at-risk youth. Darian has been honored by Novant Health and Spectrum News as a Local Hero. Darian volunteers with the Emmaus Mentoring program and coaches little league and middle school football.
